Cornell University

Social Media Specialist · October 2016 - July 2020

As the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business social media specialist, I managed all social media content for the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, and the School of Hotel Administration. I developed outstanding social media communications to engage with our audiences across 14+ platforms.

In my role, I solely managed every aspect of our social media presence. From strategy to execution, content met strategic leadership objectives while engaging with our digital community. On top of every day messaging, I organized student ambassadors profiles, blogs, and Instagram takeovers to share the authentic student experience, worked on the lead generation team to create admissions campaigns for graduate programs, and executed live social coverage for key events like commencement and reunion.

I provided the voice of the college through 24/7 social media monitoring and community management and administered guidance for faculty, staff, institutes, centers, and clubs to elevate the college's digital presence. I also developed and shared monthly reports to demonstrate the effectiveness of our social media platforms. In December 2019, Johnson’s YoY social media traffic was up 115%

In 2020, my team was awarded the Gold Circle of Excellence by Case.org (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) for launching a comprehensive set of lead generation campaigns. Judges noted the strong process, detail, analytics, results, and the strong creative work in the campaigns.

Emma is one of the most talented, dedicated, creative people I’ve had the pleasure to work with. Her ideas inspire everyone around her, and she turns her creativity into results. She has exponentially increased our social media presence and reputation among our external audiences, and she’s empowered students and stakeholders along the way. Emma’s also funny as heck and goes out of her way to make sure we all feel appreciated.
